Mosquitoes?

OK, I'll ask..(for my daughter, coughs). Do Mosquitoes bite chickens and or quail?

Yes, fowl pox is transmitted by mosquitoes, so it's best to try to cut down on standing water as best you can.

Yes, im stickler about draining water from any pan/bucket lying around. Bad part is we live within 1/2 mile of a river and many creek bottoms..Mosquitoes here chase cats off... How about a bug zapper right outside coop?

I don't know if mosquitoes are attracted to bug lights, they are drawn more to carbon dioxide. You may have to just deal with fowl pox once in awhile. I have had it a time or two in the fall.

Thanks. I will ask my mother what type of tree/bush she claims deters the lil devils, as im not above trying about anything that might help meh feathered friends.
