mosquitoes

I've tried the propane ones with the carbon dioxide attractants for a couple of hundred dollars and they didn't really do much as far as attracting mosquitoes. I did buy a Dynatrap recently and found that with a black velcro strap attached around the middle, whatever buggies got in couldn't get out. I'm thinking now of getting an attractant because I'm still getting bit inside when I go to bed, even with the fan on. I'm tired of using Benadryl to knock myself out at night for 2-3 days (trust me, I've tried everything else) and nothing else works). I seriously envy those people who get bitten and then have their bites disappear in a day. It seems that most people of Asian heritage have this problem too.

DynaTrap is an indoor/outdoor mosquito and insect trap. They come in 1 acre and 1/2 acre size. They lure the insects with the light and carbon dioxide (what we breath out and what attracts the mosquitoes to us) and when the insect gets close the internal fan pulls them into a trap/cage. No chemicals. The bugs die of dehydration, I think. It has been tested, and proven, to work on mosquitoes, flies, wasps, stink bugs, moths, and hornets. Have heard it works on some other things like gnats, etc. It does not attract honey bees or butterflies since those are pollinators. No, I do not work for the company. Friends swear by them and they bought them through those high price catalogs for way, way more. I just ordered the one acre size on QVC today 5/21/2016 and can't wait until mine gets here. I do wonder if the collected dead insects can be used as a treat for my hens, ideas???

For long term buy a propane powered mosquito magnet.
That's the brand name Mosquito Magnet.
But for your outdoor BBQ's etc. Buy some Therm a cells.
Virtually odorless when burning and good for about a 15'X15' area.
Not real cheap for refills but we swear by these things.
We use them bear hunting and the bears don't notice the smell so neither should your guests.
I guarantee these will work when used as directed.
As for bags of water Mythbusters proved that is a myth and does nothing but make a person look weird hanging bags of water everywhere.
Go get a Thermacell and have a great mosquito free time.

I have tried the bottle trap many times with great success!

Also, there is a natural yard spray that is non toxic to pets and humans, the idea however is to either get them first thing in the morning, or right at dusk when they are most active!

I find this at the pet stores, mom and pop mostly, support local vendors/merchants!

It works for us on the coast of CA!

Good luck!

We haven't had any problem with mosquitoes until the last 2 weeks. It has rained every day for the last 2 weeks. We live in the middle of 5 acres of some very thickly wooded and low vegetation property. There isn't any way that all of puddles in all of our property can drained. Even if it could be drained, the neighbors wouldn't be able to drain all of their property either.
During the day, I don't see any mosquitoes in the hen house and there doesn't seem to be any problem...but at night when I go out to close the hen house doors, there is almost a cloud of mosquitoes inside with the hens. It's almost like a scene from a horror movie.
The man at the local feed store sold me some spray that is supposed to be safe with animals and I've used it for a couple of nights. I'm afraid to use it every night because I know that it can't be safe for the hens to be used so often.
I ordered a Dyntrap Insect Trap, 1/2 Acre Pole Mount With Water Tray. I am sincerely hoping that this will work. I know that those girls must be miserable out there.
