Hi people! I need an aggressive rooster breed, my rooster can’t protect my girls for his life. He’s a big wimp, so I’m adding him to my bachelor flock. What breeds are good to the hens but very aggressive and protective? A coyote got one of my girls yesterday (maybe a fox) and he was just at my back door sleeping. Thanks! I don’t really care if he’s a aggressive to me, there’s no one else for him to hurt.

I have old English game hen roosters . They were bred to be aggressive they are good with other chickens and very protective of them. One thing you need to know about them is that you need to put yourself above them on the pecking order, or they could turn aggressive towed you. Also I would buy 5 chicks of just roosters so you can choose which rooster works best for you and your flock, and then get rid of the ones you don’t want

A good, secure run will protect your hens.
A rooster will not protect them from predators. He will alert you when a predator is around, but that's all he can do.
My previous roo was protective, I don’t talk about him because he died a nasty way, he saved my girls. I guess he was just raised right. 🤣

They were out, I stepped away for a minute and she was just gone. Expect her feathers.

but thank you For the insight! I’m looking into shamo breeders.

Really? I have had my rooster fight a fox when he saw one of his hens getting attacked. Same thing when a strange person picks up a hen from his group, he stacks trying to rescue his hen
