Yeah, you just need to prioritize and go from there. Cost is up there for most people, but still takes a backseat for me to humidity woes, so I figure I'll spend the rest of my life west of the Rockies.

One other thing to consider... places that are cheap to live in generally have fewer job opportunities or lower pay. Are you necessarily saving money if you're also getting paid less?

Darn!! For a while I was looking at Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, etc. but not sure on the climate there. Except I did live in northwestern PA for a bit.

Yes. Almost everything needs to be shipped in from the mainland, so yes, everything is very expensive there.
