Here? Partridge Plymouth Rocks, Barred Rocks and Orpingtons.
Barreds are heavier and produce better because they've been better bred for dual than the partridge. But I like partridge color better so... working up my own line of good partridge rocks.
I have some australorps and two buff orpingtons. Both are popular here. BO's always sell fast in the area. I may keep the pullet, she's a sweet thing. He's a nutcase. I have a slw pullet who I bought as a companion for a lone chick. She's interesting. But it's not a common breed out here.
Langshans, Orps, Rocks, RIRs are the most common dual purpose birds here.
Pretty sells to certain folks but that's a market best checked first.
Many people are jumping on a color band wagon. Several breeds are very popular in blue. Blue Rocks are gorgeous.
Delawares are FAST risers in the dual purpose market. Pretty and large and fast growing and good egg production.
Silkies sell to people who've succumbed to their evil thought wavelength. Sometimes that's good, sometimes you become addicted needlessly to vicious miniature feather demons. Be careful should you decide to purchase any, they have plans to take over the world.
