An Easter Egger is a hybrid, multi-color (but typically blue or green) egg layer. They lay better than other purebred blue egg layers, I believe. I'd personally probably classify them as their own breed, but they're not known to that one poultry/chicken association; they come in all sorts of colors, have pea combs, and are a little smaller than your average-sized bird (Barred Rock, for example, I suppose). They're quite cheap and you could probably find them lots of places where chicks are often sold.
