Most unusual punishment your parents used?

Hmmm, this is a tough one. I remember my mom chasing me around the yard with a switch once. I climbed a tree and was afraid to come down so I stayed in it until after dark, and was able to avoid the switch. I can't remember if I was allowed to eat supper that night or not.

My mother made me eat grass for dinner once. We were having liver and onions and me with my BIG mouth said "I would rather eat grass". Well.......................

That and ALL the wooden spoons, rulers, and yard sticks broken on my bum.

But if you were too stubborn to eat liver and onions, why did you eat the grass?

I remember when my aunt babysat us over at her house she had some interesting punishments. Every time we were over there we had to have an hour of quiet time, either reading a book, doing a puzzle, or just sitting there if we didn't want to do either. We didn't like quiet time so she doubled it as a punishment. If we left the bathroom light on, she added another 20 minutes to quiet time. If we spoke during quiet time, another 20. If we misbehaved, make that a two hour quiet time. Forgot to put the toys away, tack on another half hour to quiet time. LOL, we HATED it when she babysat for us!

For about a year, my mom and us lived with the same aunt and uncle. We had chores every day, and had to show her when we were finished. If they weren't done to her standards, she made us do it over again. If we didn't do the dishes well enough after dinner, she'd wake us up at 6 in the morning and make us do them again. I was grounded once for a month for eating an extra granola bar and lying about it. (Because I knew I'd get in trouble.) She went through the trash and found the granola bar wrapper. Once my sister got grounded for 3 months for eating an extra banana. Sometimes just for the hell of it she'd have us go out and pick up every stick, rock and twig in the yard, and then we had to get her approval afterwards. I think once we spent about 5 hours out there picking up sticks. LOL LOL there's lots more but it would take way too long to tell all of it. Lets just say we hated living with her, and by the time we left, we hated her, too! She was a prison warden for sure.

I would have loved quiet time at my aunt's house. When she babysat us, she had us do her housework for her, then when we finished, she'd have us write a pretend newspaper (articles and pictures). Seemed like schoolwork to us. I hated going there. Could have been much worse, though.
