Most unusual punishment your parents used?

And this was your AUNT? I hope she didn't have kids of her own... cause she sounds like a Mommie Dearest!

LOL nope, no kids of her own! (Whew!)

Not much punishments on my side. Me and my brother were pretty good towards my mom that I dont' remember much punishments at all from her other then the corner or grounded to our room.

As for our kids, that's a different story. If corner doesn't work, daddy brings out the veggie cans. THey have to stand at their naughty spot holding a veggie can in each hand above their head. After that, they wouldn't DARE ignore us when we say to do or not to do something.

My husband and I talk often about when we have kids and what we'll do when they're teenagers. He made a joke last night that by the time we have kids, we'll have talked about it so much that we'll have a manual and a script. "Okay, son or daughter...um.... (flips pages)... (mumbles) Lets see, punishment A, lecture B, Ok, (Clears throat), Now, son or daughter, I mean son,......"

I loved the being sent to my room even though I didn't have TV or video games. It was just a relief. We got sent to our rooms when I complained too much about my brother bothering me. My brother would gripe, "See now we're both being punished." Neither my brother nor my mom seemed to realize that the "punishment" of quiet time in my room was way superior to the constant annoyance from my brother.

I did a crazy thing to punish my brother once. He chased me into my room and was yelling at me. I put on a record (yes vinyl) of the the "Stars and Stripes Forever" and put it on repeat. Then I climbed out my window and went to play outside. My brother kept pounding at my door telling me to turn off that record and I wasn't even there.

Funny and clever.

My mother was a teacher. (I had her for English in 7th grade! That was a punishment all by itself!

) So much of our punishment involved school work.

Yep, we were geeks so a reading ban was effective. No reading for pleasure until your chores were done.

But, if you mouthed off for any reason you got the dictionary. I once had to write out the entire A section of Webster's for using a bad word (mom overheard me thinking I was cool.) She said cursing was a failure of vocabulary and she was going to help me not have to resort to such shorthand again.....

She (and now I) will take clothes or toys left out. They can be ransomed back with extra chores or allowance money. But, my mom once gave my brother's only winter coat to charity because he refused to pick it up. She refused to buy him another until he earned the money for it. He wore layers of sweatjackets for a month. I am not sure the schools today would not report that.....
