My lab ate a couple of the front covers off paperback books. Never hard cover even though they were on the same shelf. I guess he doesn't approve of light reading. I also had a dog who ate shoes but, and this is what would drive me nuts, never two of the same pair!
My puppy chewed our DSL cable today... I was in the process of checking my email when all of a sudden the internet went out. I thought it was just being annoying like it has been lately, but when I went downstairs, there's the puppy under my mom's desk eating the DSL cable. Knawed it right through. And the other day he chewed the printer power cord. Thankfully it wasn't plugged in, but still.
Really he eats and chews anything he can get his teeth on. He'll go after the floor and the walls like there's no tomorrow. He eats rocks, wood, dirt, grass, daylilies (supposedly they're poisonous to dogs, but so far they haven't affected him). Who knows what else he's gotten... Oh, he did take a chunk out of my dad's leather workboot the other day...
We don't have a dog, but my son and dl came and brought a small furry barking thing, that liked to eat toilet paper. When they went to bed, they left the barking thing loose in the house. It did something to the toilet paper that looked like it was thrown into the fan. When hubbo woke up, I took him a cup of coffee, and the barker came with me. I told him that was Molly, and he said "We've met, she came in here and got a roll of toilet paper". I asked him why he didn't stop her, she demolished it in the living room. He said "I figured if she came to get it, she needed it".
My dog Maddie who is a lab/greyhound (mutt) has attempted to eat a light bulb from a night light (i'm not so sure she ate it, but she chewed it until the bulb broke), chewed threw hardware cloth in her kennel (she was in it while we were all at school/work, and chewed threw it because she got sick and had diaherra, in multiple spots in the basement..
), barbie clothes, a pen, chapstick, slippers, and has gotten into the garbage on multiple occasions leaving a trail from the kitchen to the living room.
She has since settled down a bit, she's six now. But she still gets into the garbage about twice a year..
