Mostly hens?

Is it just me or does it look like this clutch of chicks are mostly pullets? They are wheaten Marans with a couple of blue Marans thrown in.

Too young. Post individual pictures when they are about five weeks old, maybe older.

How old are they now? They look about 7-10 days old. If so they look like mostly pullets.

You are bang on for age. They are about 10 days old.

I only know as i have some 6 and some 13 day old chicks currently. I've raised 4 sets of chicks up to solid adults, but they grow so fast and i didn't take photos as often as i should have. There was an article a few days ago on the homepage about what chickens to buy and it gave some info on how to tell the sex at 1 and 5 weeks old, great article. I'll see if i can find it for you.

Wheaten varieties can be sexed by coloring at a very young age. Those do seem to be mostly pullets, but you'll know for sure when the chest feathers start coming in.
