Moth Wars?

i am curious if anyone else who has their brooder inside has discovered this entertainment too!

we live in the country and when we leave to porch light on we attract many many moths. we started grabbing a few and tossing them into the brooder. the chicks love it! it sounds like a mass of pirannah as they scramble for the catch and then keep away!

well... tried another idea thinking the chicks would chase it, but they not only didn't want too chase a laser pointer red dot, they wanted to avoid it at all costs! (of course, we did not point it at anyone's little eyes). i just found their reaction really interesting. any thoughts as to why?
