I have bought way too much chick feed. I only bought one small bag but Tassels it seems doesn’t approve of chick feed so they are mainly eating whatever she finds for them.
Logically I know that should be fine, but it still makes me a bit anxious about their nutrition.

Mine LOVE the soaked layer mash, brats! They also are eating the textured feed and their starter feed.

I have a 20kg bag of it but I’ll mix it with the layer mash.

Old Red has passed away, I am rather relieved, poor old girl. Now the only hen of my BIL’s left is Raven. She seems hearty and hale so far.

Blanche is also the same age I would say, she is moulting at the moment.

And it’s been just pelting down rain all afternoon, I had hoped it would stop but it’s now 7PM and still pelting down. I need to bury the old girl, I guess she isn’t going anywhere and can wait until tomorrow. But I wanted to put her to her final rest.

Yes it is a relief for me, I was so worried about her. Blanche and Raven are the oldest now. Raven is 8 and I would say Blanche is also. Both are doing well, hopefully they stay they way for long while.

With the passing of Penelope, Sophia, Petunia and now Red, this year, I am down to 42. Not counting the chicks…. And of course I don’t count chickens till they hatch.

Thank you! She's pretty young, I expected at least 16 weeks. So I was still a bit surprised. That being said, she's a good sized girl, much larger than her sister.

She lived a good long life for a production breed. And when she came to my place she enjoyed a nice boyfriend with Mr P.
