Mother Clucker's Hatching thread ... first hatched - with pics

Isn't it nerve racking???? Now you know what we all have been going through! Tell hubby to take you out for dinner and a movie, then when you get back maybe they'll be out! Or you may just be too tired to care!

What color egg is it? Is it brown, pinkish or cream?? I want to get an idea of what the little thing will look like!

It's a pinkish one, from what I can see, he has some dark color - probably reddish with blackish in there? Hard to tell, cause he's wet still, hasn't come out totally. It might be a rir mix of some sort. unless the reddish is actually yellowish. The other one that is pipped with a hole to breathe is that really dark egg I got from ya.

I had to step away from the bator, cause I want to help!!! poor baby, he's working so hard at it, and that membrane is SO hard to tear. He's doing ok on his own, but I want to help!!! He is about halfway zipped out, but seems to be having a harder time tearing the membrane, must be getting a little tired.

The other one I had pipping has a hole to breathe out, now, and he cheeps every now and then I can see his beak. I think one other is starting to pip, not sure on that one.

None of the cochin eggs are pipping yet. so far all that are pipping are Shelley's eggs.

I can't wait to get my first baby!!!!!!!!

I am wondering if I'm gonna get any sleep tonight

The pinkish eggs are from the SLW hens, so that is probably why it looks dark. There are 2 RIR roos in there, so it's possible it's mixed with that, although there are 3 SLW and 3 rock roos in there, so chances are greater it would be one of those!! But if it has red, it had to be RIR. The dark egg, is it spotted like a guinea egg? We have one hen that lays those. I think it's a RIR, but not sure. Most of the brown eggs are the RIR. We have the most of them, so we see TONS of those eggs!!
