the problem with candling them:
I cant do that. im afraid she might walk off away from her eggs. im just gonna hope for the best. i put a little fence around her. shes also got food and water. when her eggs hatch ill put them somewhere safe where there mom can raise them.

Oh wow, what a nice surprise ...... on both the rooster being a hen and the nest of eggs.

I can't wait to have a broody. It would save on so much hassle with my haphazard way of incubation. Although now that I think of it I would still probably mess with a broody.

Good luck with the hatch!

In my experience most broody hens usually don't leave the eggs even if moved....they just want to SIT. As others have said find a way to keep them safe from predators, if you move them into the garage can you make a fairly small confined area for her her? It sounds like another hen may be contributing to the nest. If you have another broody hen divide the eggs between them. Otherwise mark them and eat the new ones.

thanks for your help. i moved her to a fenced in area with her eggs. a few days later i went to check on her, she wasnt sitting on her eggs and i didnt see her anywhere.

i went looking an found her dead, lifeless body by her eggs along witha huge pile of feathers and 6 broke eggs.

how about a little dog or cat kennel that you can put them in the coop or run You know the Vari-Kennels for shipping your pet. Would be very safe.

Just an idea
