Hi! Put my first eggs under my sweet broody girl on Mother's Day, 3 Wheaton Marans and 4 BCM! This puts us in line for a Memorial Day Weekend hatch, anybody else set on Mother's Day?

So excited, this is my first broody and first hatching experience!!

I'm in ! Actually I put some in on Saturday and a batch for my friend in on Sunday.
So you have your frist broody. I have eggs under one of my girls. Put 8 but had to pull 4 that were no good and I think one of them may have stopped but I left it just in case.
Just a little tip for you but make sure that you take her off the nest at least once a day to eat and drink. Some of those brroodies won't get up for anything! This way you no that she is getting some food and water. I had a friend that didn't make hers get off the nest and it ate her babies. Yuck!

Yea, so glad to have a hatching buddy!!! Thanks for the tip about making her get off the nest, it would break my heart if she started eating them! So far she's getting off the nest once a day. I didn't see her get off the nest yesterday, but I did find some chicken droppings that would put my golden retriever's poo to shame, haha, so I'm guessing those were her's.

What breeds are the eggs your girl is sitting on?

Isn't Memorial day May 24?? That is Victoria day in Canada, my eggs are due to hatch that day but I put them in on May 3rd......... I'm confused.

LOL phew scared me for a minute I thought they were the same day I thought I was having some trouble counting

Me too, whatever hatches from my hen I found sitting on 16 eggs in a corner of the coop.
It will be a mystery...some eggs may not be fertile, some crossbreeds, and some may be OE and probably a few are actually hers.
They should (if they do) hatch around Memorial Day (US) too.

they are serama or silkie. I forgot to mark them so it will be a mystery!!
Yea those droppings are sick aren't they!!!!

I'm in, set Saturday night. 5 silkie/ee mixes, 10 purchased and shipped BBS silkies and 13 of our blue/splash silkies. Hoping for a really nice black cockerel from the purchased eggs.
The purchased silkies are a 10th anniversary gift to hubby (10 years on May 5th!) Who'd have ever thought I'd be able to buy him a handful of eggs (silkie eggs at that) and he'd be ecstatic?
