~**Motorcycle Thread**~ For the Biker in us ....

I went down on my first day learning .. eeeeek! DH thought that was going to be IT .. but I'm an old horse ridin' girl and a little "bucking off" never stopped me ...

Haven't been down since ... I DID drop my bike a couple of times though ..

Saturday DH and I took off on the bikes .. ended up riding all the way around lake Livingston .. Stopped and had lunch in Livingston at Shrimp Boat Manny's .. yum yum cajun food! It was sooooo hot in the afternoon but we enjoyed our East Texas tour .. Stopping for iced tea and A/C when we saw the chance!!

Vrooom Vrooom Vroooom ... rode the bike to work this morning .. It's supposed to be 98 degrees with heat index of 105 this afternoon... THAT should be a fun ride home. I am discovering some back roads so that I don't have to travel in traffic and get stopped at lights in that kind of heat .. makes for a MUCH nicer ride .. even when it's 100 degrees!

I had a first year Goldwing. It was '75 model. Great bike and would easily walk away from Harley anything. The boxer type 4 banger was great as was the handling and center of gravity. Front and rear disk brakes and shaft drive. I was even able to keep it upright when a front wheel bearing decided to let go...

I want another one, but I am holding out for a diesel powerd bike to hit the consumer market.

I ride a 2005 Honda ST1300 Sport-Touring Motorcycle. I bought it new in 2005 and it is currently sitting in my workplace parking lot with 88,650 miles so I am averaging around 17k per year. :)
I've ridden to and through 20 States as well as New Brunswick, Canada a few weekends ago. Ontario is next onthe ride list in a couple of weeks. No trailers for me thank you..Trailers are for snowmobiles not motorcycles! LOL

Snow and Ice are the only things that keep me off of the bike. I've ridden in 7 degrees as well as 107 degrees.
Most miles I have ridden at once was 1208 miles from my house in Hebron, CT straight to Ocala, Florida in 22 hours...That ride was...interesting:p

Suffice to say I love that bike and riding in general.

My favorite places to ride are Tennesse and North Carolina followed by New Hampshire and Vermont. (Someday I will get out West but need lots of time for that).
Blue Ridge Parkway is therapy on wheels..

Enjoy some of my ride pictures here:
