If any of you have ridden on long motorcycle trips you'll know what I am talking about..(if you haven't..GET OUT THERE and ride!)

Tomorrow after work I leave from my workplace here in CT and depart for a loooong weekend of riding to Ontario, Canada. As always before a trip, I've got the the pre-trip excitement jitters!.. A mix of nervousness, joy, and overwhelmed with getting everthing ready to pack and put on the bike...

1st stop tomorrow night will be New Hampshire and then Wednesday will be approx 500 miles or so to Ontario...
My first time riding in Ontario so really looking forward to it! Should probably be north of 2,000 miles riding when I pull in on Sunday..YEAH!

Have fun! Be careful .... take lots of pics for all of us... ~tg

Me and My bike, 2005 Honda ST1300. It currently has 91,000 miles in 5 years. Its been to 20 states and 2 Canadian Provinces. This thing is a mile muncher and has never given me a lick of trouble. Its got a 125 horsepower V4 engine that absolutely purrs at 90 mph. (you think you are going 40 thats how smooth it is) It has an electronically adjustable windshield..Yes you read right, push the button, up goes the windshield as high as I want it..or back down to give me more airflow.. I call it the button of 'awe'. I show people that feature, and there jaws drop..LOL I've got a 7.7 gallon gas tank which gives me a highway range of over 300 miles..Heated grips, storage galore..(The side cases hold a full face helmet when I'm off the bike and need a place to store it..) The black wings sticking out towards the bottom of the fairing are actually engine guards should the bike tip over, NOTHING else hits the ground..bags mirrors, etc...it all stays untouched. I've tested this desing element more than once..LOL Its an incredible machine...I dont understand why people only look to one way overpriced, underperforming brand (will remain un-named) just to fit in..(feels way to High school to me) but thats another discussion..

Cause a Harley hold its value.

there are a lot of good bikes out there, but I agree with you, a Harley holds it's value. Not only that you can still get someone to work on them.
I have a friend with a Honda Goldewing he purchased 2 years ago used several years old, he only paid $3000 for it but know one will touch it for repairs.

The whole Harley holds it value thing does not hold water anymore..

When there were waiting lists at the Harely shops for their bikes, yes that was true..but Harely sales (like all bikes) are hurting..They are not moving in the showrooms and as far as cruisers go, the competition has caught up in the CC war...Just as much CC for a LOT less money..No its not a Harley (which you will say) but to me thats a GOOD thing:p
1400 cc engine should put out WAY WAY MORE power then what comes out of the crate..Then you are forces to stage 1 it, stage 2 it etc etc to get any performance out of it...However Harley has been finally pushing the engineering curve becuase they have been losing market share..which is a good thing..it means a better quality higher performing Harley..

I can sell my bike and get a similar return on investment..But guys..here the problem..I dont look at a motorcycle as investment..I buy it to ride the crap out of it..Period..
Its not a garage queen, ride 5 miles to a bar and stare at it...etc etc...I paid 13K for mine 5 years ago and can still sell it for about 8..but why would I want to???

Its bullet proof (and therefore dont need to purchase a bike based on how easy it is to work on it?) If its made right, should not have to use that as a factor of purchase..

I dont care what anybody rides but the whole mentality of the pirate people kill me..rant off...

Ride whatever, ride safe..however just RIDE!
