Mottled Chicks

Mottling comes in way before 5-6 months this one was mottled View attachment 3072795 the mottling is suppose to get better after every molt is what I heard
This is that same pullet now View attachment 3072798
what you have are not "real mottled" with them being clearly a mottled crossed with a different colour (so not mottled) so the affect is different (so it comes in earlier then in a true mottled chicken) and also your chickens are gorgeous :)

so i am right abut them not being 'true mottled" or what ever you want to call it what i mean by "true mottled" is like a black mottled chicken like on my pro file picture or like a buff mottled or blue mottled so a single colour with white spots.

that colour should be standardised if its not all ready its so pretty just saying:love:love:love

Mottling is white spots. They can be on any other background. You are referring to the specific variety “mottled” which is a black mottled bird. Mottling in genetics is much more broad than the variety.
