Hello
I’m sorry if this isn’t the right place for this question...but I hope you can help. I noticed that there appear to be mouldy patches in the grass in my duck run. I just got rid of them (stupidly without taking a photo first), but I think it’s growing where duck pellets have spilt on the grass.

my question is how can I safely/naturally get rid of mould in the grass (besides ripping/ vigorously raking the grass out).

Also can you give me ideas please for somewhat spill proof feeding stations? At the moment their pellets are just in a shallow tub on the ground. Which they tend to tip over, hence the spills and mould.

Thank you

edit: I should’ve said the mould is white in colour.

A mild bleach solution shouldn't harm the grass, and it should counter the mold. Ducks are a challenge since they lead such a soggy life. But, I'm sure you'll agree they're worth the extra trouble because who would want to be deprived of such a charming animal?

Haha yes you’re absolutely right! We’re currently in the middle of a storm and even while half their run is covered they still choose to stand in the rain and mud!

The bleach solution won’t harm the ducks if they eat that grassy patch? What ratio should I use? I read somewhere 1:10 bleach to water?

ive been thinking of putting gravel around their kiddie pool to counter the HUGE mud mess they have created in just a few days (their run is new, moved a week ago) will it help or is it just futile?

the grass in their run was lovely and long and just a week later it’s already very short and muddy!

Try the 1:10 solution on the mold. Make it stronger if there is no noticible effect. The chlorine gasses off fairly rapidly and becomes inert, so keep the ducks away from the sprayed area for at least an hour and they should be okay on that sprayed grass.
