I barely understand it. I think my parents are afraid I will get to close to someone and give out personal information or some crazy junk like that. I also don't think they trust me......

Explain to them that you completely understand why they would be worried and that you would never give out personal information.
(Remember, we tried to get you to tell us your name and you didn't. XD)
Have a conversation with them, tell them that they can trust you and that all of us are perfectly fine to talk to. Explain to them, without getting angry or upset, why you enjoy PMing your friends.
I'm sure they'd understand!
