Yeah, one of them was my very favorite chicken of all time... she knew how to purr, it sounded like my cat- a more high pitched trilling purr than my cat makes now, but she used to sound more like the chicken when she was younger- (the chicken didn't learn how to purr till she was older) but she was sick anyway... (this was before I found BYC) she couldn't fly up onto the roost when she was old, so she would wait by the door for me to lift her up onto the roost, and as I left I would hear her purring herself to sleep... when she was younger she would fly up onto my shoulder, and when time when she was old she tried to fly up onto my shoulder again, but she couldn't make it... she was high up in the pecking order, I remember seeing her as a pullet fighting another hen... and even in her old age, she would still fight one lowest down rooster.

but now we have an electric fence and the bear is too big to fit in the window now, so hopefully it will never happen again.

(Sorry I'm such a slow typer)

I hope your bear doesn't get your chickens.
