Yes, I use it for my animals too; horses, cats and chickens. It absolutely has to be food grade. The non-food grade is for filtering and is dangerous. A lot of people, when they use it themselves, put it in smoothies or juice. I just stir it into water and drink it, about a tablespoon, twice a day. I first tried it when I considered giving it to my animals. I knew people took it, so I took some myself just to see what would happen, before giving it to my "kids".
 
I use the Mary Kay acne treatment stuff
Haven't tried any Mary Kay stuff for a while. I don't know anyone that sells it right now. Although I guess I could find it online with no trouble.
