Update:

We cleaned Lovey's wound a bit more today, removing the blood slugs (thick, coagulated blood). And, I was right on the ball, it was a pulled feather (just moulted in, so it was big). It just kept bleeding a bunch, so we've put a bit of petroleum jelly on and bandaged her foot. It seems a bit excessive, but it's just to keep it closed so it can heal up.
We'd been to the shops before we cleaned it, giving us a chance to buy a medium dog cage. (Now I have an injury bay.)
We might take her to the vets, if we get an appointment. Then I can get the vet to check her eyes. I don't really want to go, because they may turn to putting her to sleep. ;-;


I'll tell you something, lice and blood make you want a bath more than anything in the world.

Yes, I agree. I haven't dealt with blood, but the lice is terrible. We keep trying to get rid of the invaders but they just won't leave!

Blood is bad, but I prefer it over lice. I need to dust my chooks, or bath them, but it's too cold and I don't want to dust them until they've finished moulting. ;-; The lice never go away though.
