I'm an animal lover too!!!
He's quite old and his back legs are somewhat paralysed.
I think he got the abscess because he drags his legs through his urine....
I don't know about honey and I don't think a gauze pad would last very long...
And we can't get any pain relief for him.
He's really old and I want him to get better, but elderly animals take so long to heal.
And he doesn't really have time on his side...
Is one of those things HAPPY?
That's the problem with old animals, they don't heal quickly and with little time left, it isn't practical to pay $$$$$$$ for something. I wish I could think of something to help you with his pain. My moms friend had to put her dog down because a tumor. 10 year old lab. they could have had it removed but she might have died during surgery and its not worth it $$ wise to have an expensive surgery for a dog who might only live 2~4 more years and will most likely develop more tumors. I do love old animals. My FAVEORITE dog was a retired sleddog. I can honestly say I would have giving the world for that dog. Rest in peace Griz
