~ A Efficient & Simple Brooder ~​

You will need a plastic storage tub no need for a lid:

Then spread a couple inch layer of pine shavings:

You will also need a lamp as such:

You will also need 2-4(extras always)light bulbs that are between 60-75 degrees Farenheit:

As the chick grows I raise the lamp so the chicks head is almost touching the outer rim of the lamp.If they are too cold they will cuddle tightly under the lamp.If they are hot they will go as far from one another and the lamp as possible.When the temperature is just right they will stay in the middle.

Now I like to hang the light bulb inside the bin as shown to get the right height:

A thermometer will also help keep you always on the right track.

This was for Blue she asked how to set up a brooder & this is what I use until they grow to large then I get them a bigger storage tub that they only use at night during the day they play outside in a secured pen.

Blue you can also use shredded newspaper, but that gets wet really fast.

Okay, I think shavings will work out best for me though. Since we don't get the newspaper

I've never used pine shaving, always been stuck with newspaper.

My sister used it and she had 30, boy did it get dirty fast. Say blue how many chicks are you getting?
