I was going to file them. I think it might be dangerous if I tried to clip them by myself. :/

Ah, cool!
The best tip I have is this: let them come to you. You could let them out in a room that they can't escape from, or you could put your hands in the cage, and offer them a treat. Never offer millet or treats freely in the cage, unless you are holding the treats. They'll associate you with the treats and they'll be less jumpy about standing on you. ;)
When Chilli (my first cockatiel) lived in the house, I tried chasing him and getting him to sit on my hand straight away, but that just made him aggressive and vicious. The only reason he tamed down is because I tamed Pookie in the correct manner. Letting her come to me when she wanted. It took a less than three days, then both were happy to sit on me and nibble at the millet. :3
