How are you?

Sore and excited. You?

Heck no. I'd totally wear one! XD

Nice!

YAY. XD

Oh no. I'm sorry, Shannon. :hugs She might have fallen and scraped her leg or, like you said, torn feathers out somehow. You might try rubbing some coconut oil or aloe vera on her leg. Also, I'd put some ACV in her water if possible.

:hugs I think I'll watch her. The wound looks like it's healing okay and I don't want to interfere and make it bleed again. :/ If I rub it, it might make it worse or hurt her a lot. I'll give her ACV when I have a clean bowl. Right now, she has a metal bowl so I can't give her ACV. :(
Thanks for the help, Sarah. :)

How big is the wound? I would clean it out with Hydrogen Peroxide or Rubbing Alcohol (that's going to work better than with saltwater) and close the would with Blue-Kote (which should be available at a farm store if you don't gave it). If there seems to be a lot of inflamed skin, I would apply aloe vera or petroleum jelly. If it seems to be healing slowly, try giving her garlic. Hope she will get better :hugs

From what I could see, about a thumb? Sorry, I don't really know, her feathers got in the way. I don't have any of those, I just have kitchen things to work with. :( I don't even have a place she can stay, apart from with the other chickens. Luckily my chickens are absolute darlings, they won't touch Lovey's cut. She was preening her own leg, but I don't think she'd peck at her own cut. My Mum suggested petroleum jelly, but I said it would be a bad idea. :/ I'll give her garlic tomorrow. She doesn't like it, but I know how to get her to eat it.
Thanks for helping, Brent. :hugs :)

Poor girl. I'd post in the emergency section here on BYC.

I need to take a few good pictures. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of medicines or anything I can really use. :(

Looks like some kind of abscess or cyst. Was there open skin there in the past?

That's what I thought. I don't know, I got her after she finished laying. So, I don't actually know much. I know she was kept in a nasty place where she was really sick, so it's most likely. :( Should I take her to the vets?

It sounds really weird, but I swear I had a dream about Sarah and Dan last night. XD Seriously. It was probably one of the best dreams I have ever had. :3

It started off with my middle brother and I walking around our local park. It was the middle of Summer and the sky was clear and blue. The grass was tall and golden, it rustled as a slightly heavier wind blew through it. You had to stay on the grass, or crows (like the zombie ones from Resident Evil) would attack.
So, my brother and I walked on the shorter grass. We eventually stopped, when we saw a couple of people. They were Dan and Sarah. They looked so much like the real Dan and Sarah. They saw me and my brother, so we walked over and met the pair. Dan and Sarah were so smiley and nice, especially Sarah. I smiled, then asked if they wanted to be my friends. Then, I woke up..

It was weird, and corny too, but awesome at the same time. XD :lau Dreams are so weird.

Try putting baking soda on it, that's suppose to stop bleeding and heal wounds. I can't think of any other kitchen supplies that could help at the moment. Why do you think petroleum jelly would be a bad idea? For the cysts/abscesses, I'd say you should take a sampling yourself--but that might be too hard and might hurt her. Taking her to a veterinarian would be the best option, but chickens are for some crazy reason considered an "exotic animal," so they are expensive to take in (like $100 or more, not sure how much that is in £).

That's a good idea. I think flour is too. No worries, I appreciate the help. Because rubbing the wound could cause unnecessary pain for her. :(
See, I thought that too. I'm not comfortable with trying to fix something that I have no clue what it is. I don't know if it will hurt, or bleed, or if I accidentally do something I shouldn't. ;(
Right. I'll try to get Mum to make an appointment sometime soon. Luckily, we know a bunch of great vets who are well trained when it comes to chickens. They don't charge a lot. The most they've ever costed was about £50? Maybe less. They don't charge a lot at all. Unlike the stupid Boness vets who put every pet to sleep and charge you £100+. =_= They even put down a hedgehog baby. ;-; We don't take any animal there anymore. We go to our better vets, who know their stuff. (They even compliment how beautiful my chickens are. ;) )

Lol! :gig I've had dreams about people on BYC before too
