Hi, has anyone raised baby chicks and what is the right way to go about it?

Hi!
I have raised 4 different batches of chicks so far. It isn't exactly hard, but if you want friendly chickens i reccomend getting 10 or less at a time and try to pick them up/hold them a lot. They have to eat chick starter (crumble) for the first TWO weeks i think, then they go on grower for so long, then a layer mash or crumble.
For my chicks, i used a big livestock waterer or a plastic tote both with a heat lamp. That and pine/aspen shavings with newspaper underneath. I kept them in the tote/brooder area till they were all feathered out, then i moved them to a coop. If you need to put them in with older hens, it is best to introduce them wheneveryone is roosted in the coop for the night. Hope that helps :D
