Happy Easter to you, too!! :yiipchickHappy Easter, friends!! He is risen!![]()
I feel sorry for the rooster but it's good that your entire flock didn't get killed.Happy Easter everyone!!
So, this is gonna sound kinda cruel, but I had a rooster get "half eaten" this morning and I'm kind of glad...
Here's the story:
I ended up with 3 roosters out of a straight run batch a few years back. I couldn't bear eating them or selling them, so I kept them. The 3 boys got along well in their own separate little coop with a run adjoining my rare breeds' run. Till my one rooster died... he had a heart attack or something a year ago. Now I was stuck with the two roosters and they began to fight. One of the roosters found a hole in the fence to the rare breeds' run, so he got to stay in there because there was no possible way to put him back with the other rooster without them killing each other. One day, something weird happened.... one of the roosters disappeared and when we put the chickens away for the night, found him roosted with his "brother" in the rooster coop. We left him there because he was getting along. Next morning, he was gone. Go ahead and think I'm heartlesswe coldn't find him anywhere, so I was kind of hoping he was dead. That night, we found him roosted on a pile of lumber outside the chicken coops. I put him back with the rare girls (and boy) and things were good. Till he started beating the hens up... so I swapped the roosters out last Wednesday. things were going excellent, then this morning, my dad found that a fox or soemthing got in and shredded the mean rooster to pieces. Judge me if you want, but I'm sort of happy in a way because now I might be able to get some new chicks, plus that solves my rooster problem for now AND the fox didn't get my "good" chickens.![]()
