Oh yeah, breeds like that can die if their crests get too big and such, right? :/

Well you see it's like this. The crest is actually a mutation of the skull where there's a gap covered by skin which creates the crest, if a duckling gets two crest genes it's fatal if it has one then it usually isn't fatal but if it's in the wrong spot it can be or could cause neurological damage (that's why it's especially important to make sure you give crested ducklings extra vitamins and supplements) now if a female has a really big crest or a crest that's really low then when a drake mates with her he could potentially grab the crest and either cause neurological damage or kill her if he's too rough. :/

Oh wow, that sounds nasty- especially the last part. I knew that their crests could cause them problems, but I didn't know that that was the reason.
