Just some advice for the future, mourning doves (and Blue Jays) are protected under the Migratory Bird Act. It's a federal crime to be in possession of the eggs, chicks, or adults.

In the future, please bring any chicks you find to your local wildlife rehabber so they can be properly raised and released. Hope this helps!
Thank you for that! I actually found the blue jay when I didn't know about the law but now that I do I'll give it to a wildlife sanctuary!

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act prohibits the taking, killing, capturing, transporting, harboring of the birds or hatching eggs, that which are Native to the United States of America and Europe. All are protected by state and federal agencies.
