Does anybody else love rodents!? I currently have one elderly pet gerbil and a few colonies of mice!

An angora mouse testing out the new photoshoot box.

I got some pics of my mice in their nests! They used to make bigger nests but unfortunately my old male died and his son isn't as good of a nest maker as he was.

Here's small nest that the mothers separated from the other nest because they didn't want their babies to be accidentally crushed.

Here you can see the adults nest. Gwennie, Pineapple, and Cocoa are visible in this picture.

I just looked over my young chocolates and a small buck seems to be getting reverse siamese points! Normally people wouldn't want that to happen in a show-type mouse but these chocolates are pet-type and I don't plan to focus on makeing them show-type. I mainly want the chocolates just for color but if I ever get tans then I will certainly separate some chocolates and start breeding chocolate tan show-type mice!

I used to go to swap meets! I didn't know they were still doing them. I used to have some really really nice mice. A couple that would mop up at shows.
Nice! I've been looking for show quality mice while trying to breed my own to be closer to show quality. I haven't actually found show quality mice yet but I've made some progress with breeding the ears and tails of my mice to be more show quality. Notice that I said more show quality not actually show quality yet.

here are some pics showing how I set up a mouse cage. I just use those plastic toats that you buy at the store. I usually either cut a hole in the lid and replace it with wire or create an entirely wire lid.

I fill the bottom of the toat with a cup to a cup and a half of pelletized bedding from TSC.

Then I add a layer off straw. This pic is blurry.

I also put some pelletized bedding in a little litter box in the corner. It's really just a small coffee can turned sideways in the corner.

Then the food and water is water is added so that I can finally add the mice. (There's more than one mouse in there. They just enjoy making nests under the straw.)

Great setup! I used totes too. They work great. I drilled small holes around the sides, about 2 inches down from the lip.
