Hi again all, I`ve been seeing fieldmice in the run area so I am trying this DIY trap to see what`s what. Zero cost, it took me about 20 minutes, { and i stopped for a coffee break.:)} Any tried and true, bird-safe ideas you`ve had success with please? Pics are helpful, or a link. Thanks, JJ

I have used the Tin Cat Live Mouse Trap successfully. It claims that it will hold up to 30 mice. Well, maybe. But they start to kill each other when confined in the trap. Also, as a live trap, you still have to deal with live mice once you catch them. I know my wife will not go near the live trap. In most cases, I prefer the old fashioned snap traps. But the Tin Cat Live Mouse trap works great where you are concerned about other animals getting injured by something like a snap trap.

Trapping or poisoning mice is like putting a screen door on a submarine. The problem is that you haven't secured your bulk feed or the coop feeder, that attracts the rodents. Put the bulk feed in a metal container and get a treadle feeder with a spring loaded door. Problem solved, no wasted time, no constant cost for poisons. Google rat proof chicken feeder on the feeding and watering your flock forum pages and you will find this problem was solved years ago.

They aren't going to go for the peanut butter with all the feed below the tote,
get rid of the tote.
The can is set a bit low, might not work.
Let us know how it works out.

Check this out....
