While sitting in the yard Saturday morning with a cup of coffee and a bucket o treats inspiration struck. The turkeys need more room, time to build an addition. I am not the most skilled carpenter but I thought NO PROBLEM. Loaded up the kids and went to TSC and Lowes. A couple hours later we are at the house and unloaded. To keep measurements and cuts to a minimum the addition is 16x16 and will have a peaked roof. in the center it will be about 12' high. the basic structure is built with 5' walls. The roof structure will be made of PXC and covered in the same brown cloth as the run. It is being built and will be covered and set in place once completed. thought you might enjoy the photos. The birds seem quite interested in my progress.

8' tee posts and 16'x50" cattle panels for the walls. Then ran 2x4" around top and used 2"x4" welded wire to fill in at the top between the cattle panels and the wood header. i will go back later and put chicken wire on the inside of the cattle panels to keep the critters out.

I enjoy getting out and doing stuff, besides if I work quick momma can't change my mind. Next is the goat pen, my beautiful bride wants a couple nigerian goats so I am tasked with building them a home next.

we just got a couple of goats this year, put plenty of strange things for them to climb on . . . and castrate them before they get stinky! Personally I vote for more turkeys over goats!

The turkeys have taken over the new addition. I still have a few perches to build and put up a windbreak on the north wall but they seem to like it. Two of my ladies are laying and both my toms are romancing them. spring is in the air it seems.
