Moving a Goose nest

I have a Goose that has layed one egg in a place I don't think will be safe for her or the rest of the eggs she will lay. My question is, how do I move the nest? I have a hut that I have moved up from the back yard and put the one egg in it. It has hay in the hut and it would keep her and her eggs out of the weather. I walked her in to the hut and she seen her egg but she doesn't seem to care about it.. Any ideas on how to get her to lay her eggs in the hut instead of laying them somewhere else??

Geese have a mind of their own and it can be a matter of trial and error to solve such a problem. I have a shelter for my water fowl and they are not interested at all in using it. You might try putting the the egg and nesting material just outside the hut and see if she is interested. Otherwise she will likely continue laying eggs some where. You could try putting hay in a few other acceptable places for her to lay.

Normally she will lay more eggs before she decides to "set" - does she have a male that can keep her company when she does decide to stay with the eggs ? - mine lay in specific places and I collect the eggs until one decides to sit on them - I do isolate the goose and her partner (for company) and the female will normally be content to sit on the eggs until they hatch.

I went out and bought some straw put the bales around the nest she made with an old swimming pool for the roof. She didn't have anything to do with it until yesterday when she was inside putting the final touches on her nest and laid an egg. Mr. Goose stood guard outside of the opening like a Roman solder collecting Taxes.. LOL Now if I can just keep my Basset Hound from stilling her eggs when she’s not on the nest. He doesn’t eat them, he takes them and buries them all over the yard…

I'm glad she finally laid another egg. Hopefully Mr. Gander Goose will keep Mr. Basset Hound at bay.
