I have 8 almost 5 week old Buff Orpingtons. I would like to be moving them outside to their coop at night soon. Currently they go outside into their coop/run when the sun comes up and the temp is at least 45 degrees. They stay out all day and come in the house either after the sun goes down or after the temp drops back down. They are feathered except their heads and my little rooster who only has his wing feathers and some chest feathers. They have been off the heat lamp for at least 2 weeks now. According to the weather forecast the night temps are between 35-40. Is it too cold for them to go out all night yet? Their coop is enclosed but there is no heat lamp and no insulation. I have a sand floor in the coop but I can put down a pile of pine shavings if that would help to keep them warm. Also, two of them are moving to my sister in laws (nearby) this weekend where she is planning to put them out in her partially enclosed coop with a heat lamp. Will they be fine? Thanks in advance!!
