Moving ducklings outside

Hi everyone, I have 9 day old magpies. I should be able to move them outside the last week in November but I'm wondering what to do about the weather? Thankfully I live in NC to pretty moderate winters BUT it is going to be like 38-45 at night here in a few weeks. Can ducks go out in that? These are my first 3 and I don't know much about anything past the duckling stage.

They will need to be fully feathered to handle those temps. You could supply heat but the. There is always a risk of fire. Id keep them inside until fully feathered. And take them outside on nice days to start getting them acclimated. Nice sunny days.

I have the producer's pride heat plate, I was scared to death of the lights lol

If they are use to using the heat plate then when you move them out they should use it. You’ll just have be observe them at first to make sure they use it if needed.
