It's still in the 30-50's here at night (NH), but I close the door at about 7pm and reopen for then around 8am and they are all waiting patiently for it to open.
. I still have the heatlamp on for them though, so it's about 70 under that inside. My coop is split, so 4 of my "big girls" are in the main part that opens to the outside. So far they have been excellent with the babes in there, but then again they not able to "get to them" even if they tried, so that's helping I'm sure. I will keep the new clan in the run until the end of the summer and then try to introduce everyone at that point. My oldies are Americanas (?) and not super friendly. They were rescued from a breeder/chick mill when we bought the house from them last year. He had 3 hens to one rooster in a 3ft round enclosure. And about 150 of these "pens" throught the card and the 2 story barn was filled to capacity as well. Well over 1000 birds on the property. All were torn to shreds when I got them. These were the 4 that he couldn't catch before leaving. So sad...so now they live like queens and are all more pets at this point then anything else. The new 7 will also become pets I'm sure. This is pretty much a no kill zone, I figure that the oldies went through enough and don't need anymore drama in their lives. Lol
