I built a new coop last year and moved my youngest chickens in it without a problem. I have three old hens (9+ years old, so, granny girls) who stayed in the old coop, and originally I let them, because hey, they spent all their lives in there, and chickens hate change.

But now that coop is getting tattered and I want to build something in its spot. How do I convince my old granny hens to give the new coop a try? I can't even convince them to look inside.

I would put them in the new coop and close 'em up in there every night until they learned to do it themselves, or until I could tear down the old coop.
That's what I did with my first hens anyways.
good luck (:

When moving birds I keep them locked in their new home for about two weeks. They establish the habit of "This is where I sleep" so they return to the new spot at night.

Best way to move them is to move them with formiliar things like feeders waterers and even same purch!
