I've 2 lovely hens and am currently in the process of selling my house. I'm planning on moving somewhere with an even bigger garden for them to range about in and obviously they'll get the same coop as it's coming with us. I'm a little concerned about how to get them used to a new home and surroundings. Has anyone moved home with chickens?

I moved over 500 miles (from Va to Tn) about 6 months ago, and brought 5 of my chickens with me (and a rabbit, 2 cats and 2 dogs- its was an interesting mess to say the least). When we got here, I locked everyone in their coop for about a week before I let them into their run. Their coop was new to them, but they didn't hesitate with continuing on with their normal routine once they got settled in.

Hopefully you're not going that far, but I'd imagine your girls will be just fine either way

Good luck with your move :)

Hi I'm ressurectting this thread as I've found a home that I'd love to buy and it's in the middle of a huge country park estate. The garden that's attached to the house is quite small and cobbled so they will have to get a new/bigger coop and secure run as they'll need to stay indoors a lot more as there are lots of foxes and dog walkers etc. I just hope they adapt as they've only ever free ranged in my enclosed safe but small garden.
