I bought several chickens over six years ago. I've got one tough chick left. We are moving and I'm not sure what to do with her. I can put her in a box and drive her the three hours up to our new place. Seems very stressful and almost cruel.
I can release her in the country but that also seems cruel and guaranteed death.

I don't think the humane society would take her.
I live in the San Jose area of California.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Don’t release on own that would be cruel and punishable by law. If can’t rehome take with till find a good home. Don’t discount a local animal shelter unless called and refused. People here have collected chickens from animal shelters. Can also post on Craigslist and Facebook.

I recently moved myself and though not a 3 hour car ride I put as many chickens as I could in a dog carrier and drove them over. There was no fussing or fighting. They settled in for the ride and that was that.

I had my littlest one in my lap. She sat there no problem.
