Moving to 1 acre soon

You are clearly a kindred spirit! Critters were the determining factor in my place of residence, too.

I bought a place in the country because the town where I lived with goats in my backyard for YEARS suddenly decided they had to go. I went with them. So, I tell people I bought the acreage for the goats, who let me stay here and care for them. Chickens soon followed (and ducks, geese and sheep).

Congratulations on getting out of "civilization" and joining the country life. Welcome to BYC, and let us know how your journey progresses.

Hi and welcome to BYC :frowWe're so happy you've decided to join us:ya

Congrats on the new place. Talk to your local ag extension folks to determine a good pasture mix. You'll want a good mix for both summer and winter. Unfortunately you're still going to need a good balanced feed for your girls. There appear to be a lot of choices in TX so look for something that meets your goals. Balanced feed and good pasture grass produce wonderfully nutritious eggs.
