Moving with Chickens

if your taking the coop, then best to put it on a trailer/ truck/ute deck. chickens are best if they travel in the car with you as that way you can maintain a controlled temp and keep an eye on them. in cat carriers is also a good way and they are easy to put in the car. you don't want them to squished up though as they can over heat. a tied in cup/ cut milk bottle with wet mushy bread can work well as they can still get the moisture out of it, it is filling but is just empty calories, so a good feed and water when you get there is also a great idea, stopping for water breaks if very hot is also a good idea
 
I used small dog crates and put 2 birds in each so they weren't by themselves. I also draped the front with a towel so it was dark & they pretty much slept the whole way.
