MPC Chicks are here!!!! *Updated Pics on Page 3*

So you know the australorp is an australorp? I've got one little black chick in an assortment that has white wing feathers, and I guessed she was a JG. I didn't know australorps would get any white in their wings when they were feathering out.

Well the only way I know for sure was by comparing the chicks to the My Pet Chicken website and there are only two black chicks. The BR and the Australorp. The two are not too hard to tell apart so I am nearly positive I know which the Australorp is.

I believe they don't get their adult feathers right off and their color can change some until they reach adulthood.

My MPC came today also! They didn't send all my Partridge Rocks as they didn't hatch enough, but all the rest are healthy and bouncy! AND NOISY!

Great pics, BTW! Very sweet....especially the EE. That should win pic of the week!

Thanks Bee! I would really fall off my chair laughing if I logged on here one morning and saw my startled little EE at the top of the page for pic of the week.

That would be great!

What kind of chicks did you get from MPC?

Glad to hear yours are doing good as well. Did you post any pics of them?

I haven't yet, but plan to take a few today when I get home from work.

I got Dominiquers, White Rocks, Partridge Rocks, Black Stars, Buff Orpingtons, New Hampshire Reds. I like a colorful, yet useful, flock of chickens, so I chose meat/egg combos that lay well, lay brown eggs (as I find them more marketable) and are a pretty range of colors. I hope to produce my own chicks eventually if I can get broody hens out of the bunch! No more hatcheries until I need new blood, I suppose.

Here they are after a week and a half. Already with wing feathers and getting tail feathers. They sure do grow too fast!

They are looking really great! It is amazing how fast they grow! I am thinking of placing a MPC order so I cna have some new babies in the spring. I wonder when I need to order by to get them in April...........

I think EE's come in all patterns and colors. I am glad mine is a light color since most of my chicks are dark. They will be such a pretty flock.
