MPC Easter Egg GIVEAWAY!

That's weird, I just looked and they have Carolina blues available, are they just not on the day you want them, and I couldn't find any green magnolias, should be interesting to see what those are.

A little bummed all of a sudden. My Pet Chicken called and the Carolina Blue Sex Links I ordered aren't available...seems the silly things just aren't laying. But the girl I spoke to, Laura, was just awesome in offering me either other choices, waiting for them to start, or cancelling my order. I don't want to cancel now that I'm all geared up for my first hatch, don't want to wait because our busy traveling time of year is coming close and I want the chicks integrated with the flock by then, so substitution was the most likely choice for me. So looks like my order will be Ameri-flowers after all, plus a couple of Green Magnolias...whatever the heck they are.

What really worried me a little is that she had no record of the Ultra Rare Assortment eggs that @LocalYokel so generously passed on to me. Laura was going to check for me and call me back. I'm a little worried because I was really hoping to get all of the eggs shipped at the same time so I wouldn't end up with a staggered hatch or, even worse, not being able to put one set in at all because of the timing and only having one incubator. But she sounded pretty doggone professional and cheerful on the phone, so I sure hope something works out. Alex, I think I like Laura, too!
I'm so sorry that those hens aren't cooperating. I believe the breeder said that they molted late and should be starting up again soon. They are one of my favorite varieties.

Green Magnolias are an auto-sexing green egg layer.

I dunno....I was just told to PM Alex with what I'd like and they'd do their best to accommodate. I didn't actually "win", well, except for win a new friend. @LocalYokel won and he decided he'd like me to have the eggs.

The Carolina Blue Sex Links I had ordered before. They interested me since they are an auto-sexing variety and an Easter Egger type to boot.

I DO have an order for you, I'll go double check since they couldn't find it. I promise you I placed the order for your eggs for this week.

I will be in touch as soon as I get confirmation. :)

My Pet Chicken

Thanks, Alex. Aside from being a little disappointed at first, I wasn't worried! I have learned to have total faith in you and My Pet Chicken, so I'm perfectly okay with the subs. I'm sure you made the other order and Laura just didn't spot it while we were on the phone.

I was remiss in not letting you know that the eggs so kindly given to me by @LocalYokel arrived yesterday. I am pretty happy with how they arrived, but a little concerned about how dirty they are. So I've had do decide whether to clean them before putting them in. But no cracks, no broken ones, and a nice assortment! So happy! Thanks MPC and @LocalYokel ! I had also ordered 9 before that and asked that they be shipped together, but that order hasn't arrived yet. Last tracking had them in Denver so I think they'll be here tomorrow.

I'm so excited I'm wiggling all over.

Glad to see folks getting their eggs intact! I'm wanting to order eggs, but been a little apprehensive from reading about how some eggs arrive. Congratulations, Blooie!

As far as cleaning eggs goes, I suppose it would depend on just how dirty the eggs are before I'd do anything. Light soiling or smudges would not bother me. If the eggs are heavily soiled, I'd brush off all I could and that would probably be all I'd do. Only if the egg was completely covered to the point I think the pores are clogged enough to hinder proper O2/CO2 exchange, would I ever consider washing it. The cuticle (bloom) on the egg is there to prevent bacteria from penetrating the egg, and unless the eggs are going to be incubated in a completely sterile environment, I wouldn't risk removing this protective barrier unless absolutely necessary. Just my 2c...
