Mr. Bobblehead needs a home!

I think roo. He looks and even feels different than my hens. May be his diet though. He is pretty thin compared to my girls who free range. He has pointy feathers in back instead of round. I'm asking a group about his bobbly head. Someone said oy could be a sight issue

Maybe.....my Silkie has a slight sight issue. She almost always pecks like a tiny tiny centimeter away from a speck of food. But after trying a few times she usually can get it. It might just be her crest. Whenever I have treats I put all of them in my hand so she has a big target area.

After asking and researching it looks like I may have got a bum deal! He may have Mareks Disease (ocular) his eye is gray and the other is amber . If this is the case it really sucks because its so contagious and I am new to chickens so I didn't thing to quarantine ..just put him right in. Hope I dont lose my whole flock

No, I don't think that is the case. The eyes are changing colors which is normal. Eye color is something that takes time to develop. It should change to a bay color when they are older. Not at all unusual to see a grey or green colored eye in a growing Ameraucana.
The thinness could be because of eating issues, but I always checked him every night to see if he had food in his crop and he always did, so that told me he was eating. He could need to be wormed though. I hadn't wormed any of them yet.

Okay that is interesting. I didn't know that about the Ameraucana eyes. See I don't vax my chickens so bring in that possibility is contagious is nerve wracking! Eep! I really hope its not the case. He is so darn sweet. He loves seeing me!

Since you raise them, can you show me a pic of another chicken that has this type of eye color going on?

I know you no longer have him, but you said you would have a problem with him breeding your hens if you kept him. I was just wandering why because fertile eggs are edible. And I dont think a bobble head rooster would have much success breeding a hen lol.

Because if he has Mareks or a genetic disorder he could pass it on to the chicks he fathers and she doesn't want sick chicks
