Mrs. Viss' Classroom Hatch-a-Long!

Truth be told, I killed one once doing it. These are Brinsea 64's and the lid is sort of heavy. I lifted up one end, grabbed a couple fluffy ones near that end, and some egg shells, and quickly put the lid down. Little did I know a chick was halfway over the side when I put it down. They usually can't even do that, so I didn't expect to watch for it, but now I do. 😿
I’m so sorry that happened to you!! Such a sad moment. I did manage to snatch up a few and move them to the brooder.

I had to leave my classroom for the night, but eggs K, D, I and G are pipped and resting. It’s hard to say whether there has been movement from them or not today, because there’s been a lot of commotion in the incubator today. I am hopeful they will hatch in the night or early in the morning.

I removed all broken shells to make space and four fluffy chicks went to the brooder. I’m not offering food yet but there is water available with marbles in the dish to help prevent drowning/aspiration. 11 siblings are still in the incubator to hopefully encourage the later hatchers!

I hate leaving and wish I could have just slept in my classroom. But I’m sure everyone will be fine. I do have the camera set up but with so many chicks inside it will be hard to tell of any progress!! I’ll do my best to check throughout the evening. I sure hope those four pop out of their shells soon!

Humidity was left at about 76, and it never dropped lower than 67 for a few moments when I reached in to snatch some chicks. It would quickly return to 70 or higher.

Come on little babies!!! You can do this!!! :celebrate :fl

I decided not to go to bed yet...
Pretty sure this is her looking right into the camera lol that is the freshest baby in the bunch!!
