Mt. Healthy Hatchery in Ohio?

It doesn't sound to me that Mt Healthy Hatcheries is charging any more for hatching eggs then any other hatchery. I saw were Murray Hatchery is charging $39 + postage for only 10 Chicken eggs. Mt Healthy is giving you a choice of any 12 chicken ducks and turkeys eggs for $42.00 no shipping. Any ways I have never bought eggs but have purchases many chicks for Mt Healthy and they have always been great. I thought I would try another hatchery just to see if any bodies birds were better (Murray & Cackle) but I was not pleased and will alway buy my chicks from Mt Healthy Hatcheries.

Yesterday I received my order of 80 chicks from Mt Healthy. All were alive and very active upon delivery. All are still alive and very active 24 hours later! This was the first time I had ordered from them or any online hatchery. No problems with any part of the process. So far so good! I would have to say I would order from them again.

I recently placed an order with Mt. Healthy and was very disappointed. I ordered two different breeds on-line and was expecting the first batch this week. The chicks never showed up. When I called the hatchery to find out what went wrong, they were VERY rude. I told the woman I spoke with someone at their establishment last week, to be sure I was home, and she wouldn't even listen to me. She just kept telling me they'd refund my money. I said I didn't want my money back, I wanted my chicks. I wanted to know how my order got messed up. She didn't help at all. I told her I had my order confirmation and would be glad to send her a copy. Still no help, just told over and over, I could get my money back. Needless to say, I was extremely frustrated at this point and used some language I shouldn't have. All I wanted was an explanation, and got nothing but a hard time. I'll never order from them again.

I ordered "aracaunas" from them . They really are EE's anyhow, I got all 15 plus a bonus chick and they are about 4 months old now. I didn't have any problems.

The office personnel at Mt Healthy Hatchery have always been very nice to me and always got my chicks when they said they would ship them. Believe me I called them many time over the years with question on raising chicks, ducks and turkeys. They were even very helpful and nice to my son who was trying to hatch some of our own eggs for his science project. I would have to say that science project would not have made if it wasn’t for their help. So I have nothing but praise for the customer service at Mt Healthy Hatchery.

Mt Healthy Hatcheries

I am a first time chicken owner.

I have 21 chicks that I bought from Mt Healthy Hatchery 2 weeks ago today. I went up there (I live less than an hour away) expecting to get only a dozen Araucanas. When I got there a man came out from the back to get my order information, and I explained that I had been told that I did not have to place an order for the quantity I wanted to get.

I also had my notebook in hand with the types of chickens I had originally wanted to order, but was told on the phone none of them were available expcet the Araucanas. He told me if I didn't mind getting a few of this and a few of that he could fill my order.

I had gone up there thinking of a dozen and when he asked how many I wanted I gulped and said ....20?

He took my notebook and came back with a box of pullets and said he got all of them except the Comets. WOW!

AND when I got home I had 21, so I got 3 of each breed.

Since I got so many, the box I had originally planned to keep them in was too small, so I rushed off to Wally world and got a great big long rubber maid container and they stayed in there the first week.

Then again back to Wally world and I was able to get an unused box they display melons in, and that is where they are for now.

I am pleased with the service. I had to call back and ask questions about the breeds I got and one of the Light Brahmas had a spraddled leg for a few days and the advice I was given from them helped her almost immediately.

rgo, I would like to know why Mt Healthy is selling Easter Eggers as Auracanas. I bought 3 EE chicks from the local feed store (thru Mt Healthy) and I love them. However, they were sold to me as Aucanas (I knew the difference, but I still wanted them). I tried to explain the difference to the feed store clerk and he simply rolled his eyes and said "thats what the order said" and walked off. Many people in the BYC have reported the same experience, and it is very frustrating, especally for those of us who breed/show true Auracana and Ameraucana. There has been a good deal of discussion about Ameraucanas, Aucanas, and EE's on this board and the difference between them. Most of the confusion comes from hatcheries selling EE's as Amer/Aucanas. Some people have stated that they have tried to contact various hatcheries (I don't know which ones specifically) about this and were ignored. I do not mean this post to be inflamitory, I'm just trying to figure this out. Do you know the difference between the breeds? If you do not there are many threads on the subject.

I went to the hatchery and purchased my GLW's there. The people were very friendly and they have a big selection of breeds to choose from. I don't see any reason to go elsewhere
when I have an excellent hatchery so close.
