Mt Hope, Ohio Swap This Weekend

Well keep me posted Becca about the eggs later...i wouldnt mind trying them! Or if you have chicks, maybe we can do some trades. Chicmom, i dont think i am too far from strasburg?? I am in Millersburg. Let me know if you decide to not keep them, you are welcome to email me anytime. The Quad i got from those gals were very nice...i can only fault one hen that is lacking on beard, but the rest are awesome. I am willing to bet the nice roo will offset what the hen lacks though. Will find out when we hatch those chicks! LOL I am putting all the eggs in the bator...will see what happens. Francie (-:

Oh ya... make sure you all keep in touch with me and let me know the next swaps you plan. I would like to meet everyone!! Pam, you included!!! LOL If anyone knows when the next swap meets are, please let me know so i can try to plan ahead abit. Francie

I'm bumping this up because I know the July swap is coming soon - anyone planning on going??

I know BeccaOh and I plan to be there again and set up - we've a few things to sell. I'll be wearing my BYC t-shirt this time (that BeccaOh actually gave me for Christmas!!) and we're going to make up a poster, I think, broadcasting that we're members of BYC - and hey, free advertising for BYC that way, right?!

Not sure if we'll be there both days or not, we haven't fully discussed our game plan yet.

Back in May, we were right on the main drag inbetween the Auction house and indoor vendors. I'm hoping we'll be able to set up in the same general area.

I know that I'll be taking some lop kits, bantam cochin chicks, some Blue Laced Red Wyandottes (maybe), and possibly some Black Copper Marans chicks after I make my choices on which chicks to keep. We may also have some started New Hampshire Red pullets, unless we sell them off before the swap, and some Muscovy Ducklings.

Not sure what all BeccaOh will have, as I think she's still in the decision making phase, and well, I'm really helpful when it comes to ADDING to one's flock, but not so much when it comes down to downsizing

OH, and if anyone is interested in any eggs from my current breeds, and would like to pick them up at the swap, let me know.

DH and I are driving down Friday. I still have some D'uccle chicks for sale but wasn't planing on setting up. I have mostly roo's but a few Millie pullets, they are about 9 weeks now. also have two males and two female porecelian ones I'm looking to rehome. oh have a couple extra BCM roo that are around 20 weeks, not totally conforming but they aren't bad (they are feather shanked but a bit too much color on the back). if anyone is looking for anything mentioned just PM me and we can probably work something out.

oh gosh! almost forgot... we have some peacocks for sale too. all 2009 hatch, one IB, one white, one pied and one purple BS. heck I should have setup a booth! LOL

I'll be looking for your BYC shirt Quail and will be sure to say hi if I see ya!

You can just show up and set up. They'll come around and collect from you $10 per day or $15 per weekend. I think it is $5 more to get inside the sale building.

Here's another thread going about the upcoming swap. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=368338

GOOD INFO BECCA! thank you! gosh, now I really do want to setup on Friday....hmmm, wonder if i can bribe my sitter to come Thursday night and stay over vs early Friday morning.

May was the first time QA and I went to set up. I think we were there Friday around 7am, and there weren't many vendors yet. A couple had come and camped overnight for the best spots. Buyers really didn't start coming until noon or after and lingered until 6pm or so. Saturday, we were later getting back but had our spot saved. By 8 am the place was a complete zoo of twice as many vendors and tons of buyers. But by 3pm things had wound down and vendors were pulling out.

I think we'll go Friday, but we won't rush to get there. I'd like to just spend the night Friday, but the chickens have to be fed at home.
