Just curious have you ever seen these clouds up close and personal. Do the pictures do them justice?

Sandee

I've seen them up close before and quite often. They will NEVER do her justice

It's so majestic and surreal....You know how you take a vacation somewhere in a tropical place and it doesn't seem real? That's how it feels when your looking at Mt. Rainer especially on days when the clouds hover above. I wish I had a camera that took good pictures.

Hi I live in the shadow of the mountain. The day those picture were taken the mountain was spectacular that day. The First Nation peoples could forecast the weather by the altocumulus lenticular clouds that the mountain creates. If I see a cloud like this I know that it will rain within two days. I love Mt Rainier. I live in the last town before you start up into the foothills on the north side of the mountain.

I can see Mount Rainier from my kitchen window and no picture will ever do her justice. She is the highest mountain in the lower 48, covered by snow year-round, and is gorgeous.

The lenticular clouds are fairly rare but they are super cool wen they do appear.

Wow. I miss Washington. I was stationed at Ft. Lewis quite a while back, on the North Fort. We could see Mt Ranier from our front steps.

edit ... No, there's no picture that does Mt. Ranier justice. Pictures just can't convey that sort of scale or magnificence.

I agree with pictures not doing justice to our beautiful mountains. I see Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen from my kitchen windows. I have seen Mt. Rainier in the past and they are all truly beautiful.

Have a great weekend
